How to Build Consistency by Doing Less: Simple Meditation Tips

Simple meditation practices can change everything. You do not need 30 minutes a day to feel the benefits. Even a few minutes of meditation can help you build consistency, reduce stress, and reconnect with yourself.

I hear this all the time from friends, family, and clients: “I know meditation would help me, but I don’t have time.”

But is it really that we don’t have time, or are we expecting too much from ourselves?

We underestimate the power of a few minutes of anything. We assume we need to dive straight into long, intense routines that are impossible to sustain. Then, when life gets full and we can’t keep up, we give up altogether.

We forget that two minutes of breathing is better than zero. A five-minute walk is better than not moving our bodies at all. The real challenge is giving ourselves permission to do less.

Because the truth is, consistency is what creates lasting change. Not perfection. Not rigid routines. Consistency. Coming back again and again, even if it looks different each time.

There is so much power in underpromising and overdelivering. Setting small, sustainable goals that are actually achievable. Even easy to achieve. Why? Because those small wins matter. They build trust with ourselves. They show us that we can keep our word. And when we start keeping our word to ourselves, we begin to change the story from “I can’t” to “I can.”

Think about it: how many times have you told yourself you were going to wake up at 5 a.m. to work out every day this week, only to hit snooze by day two and abandon the plan? Each time we set the bar unrealistically high, we risk reinforcing the belief that we can’t stick with things.

But when you underpromise, you leave room to grow. You commit to five minutes of meditation. If you want to keep going after five minutes, beautiful. If five minutes is all you have, that’s enough. Either way, you kept your word. Either way, you end the day with a win.

I use this approach in my own practice all the time. Just last night, after a long day, I crawled into bed and realized I hadn’t done my meditation yet. In the past, that would have spiraled into an inner debate — should I skip it, should I push through, maybe I’ll just start again tomorrow. But instead, I told myself I had a few minutes. So I did one of my short and sweet meditations. And that was enough.

This is exactly why I created the Short & Sweet Bundle. Because I know how powerful these simple practices are in my own life, and I believe more women deserve access to this kind of support. Just a few minutes can shift your energy, your mood, and your trust in yourself.

Reflection: Where in your life could you give yourself permission to do less, and in doing so, create more consistency and ease?
